Nursery Cost Guide

Academic Year 2026–27

This guide helps parents estimate the cost of nursery places for their children, based on attendance pattern, funding entitlement, and whether the place is Term Time Only or All Year Round. Final invoices are always confirmed by the Admissions or Finance Office.

Step 1 — The Standard Nursery Day

Our nursery day is made up of the sessions below. The standard day used for costing runs from 08:30 to 15:30 (Morning Session + Afternoon Session); Extended Morning and Extended Afternoon Care can be added separately on request.

Step 2 — Apply Funding, See Daily & Weekly Cost

Government-funded hours are deducted from the standard day at £8.57 per hour, applied Monday to Friday within term time and any funded weeks.

15 Hours funding is available to all eligible 3–4 year olds. 30 Hours funding is limited to a restricted number of places, offered only to families who meet all eligibility criteria.

Step 3 — Choose Your Attendance Pattern

  • Term Time Only — 34.2 weeks per year across the three terms, all term-time weeks and fully funded.
  • All Year Round — 47.4 weeks per year (the same 34.2 term-time weeks plus holiday days). Funding can only be claimed across 38 of these weeks; the remainder are charged at the full session rate.

Step 4 — Termly Costs

Michaelmas Term

  • 7 Sept – 18 Dec (13 term-time weeks); half term 19–30 Oct (2 weeks).
  • Term Time Only families don’t attend half term.
  • All Year Round families attend half term at the Holiday Day rate (Lunch only), funded for 1 of the 2 weeks.

Lent Term

  • 6 Jan – 24 Mar (10.2 term-time weeks); half term 15–19 Feb.
  • Nursery also opens 4–5 Jan and 25 Mar outside term (2 extra days), then closes completely 26 Mar – 2 Apr.
  • Term Time Only families attend only the 10.2 term-time weeks, fully funded (15 Hours only).
  • All Year Round families also attend the half term and extra days (11.6 weeks total); funding covers 11 of those weeks.

30 Hours funding isn’t offered under Term Time Only.

Trinity Term

  • School term 14 Apr – 7 Jul (11 term-time weeks); half term 31 May – 4 June.
  • All Year Round provision runs the full Trinity period, 5 Apr – 31 Aug (20.8 weeks), covering half term and the extended summer through to the end of August.
  • The school is also closed on bank holidays (3 May, 31 May, 30 Aug).
  • Term Time Only families attend only the 11 term-time weeks, fully funded (15 Hours only).
  • All Year Round families attend the full 20.8 weeks; funding covers 13 of those weeks.

Government Childcare Support

Families may also be eligible for Tax-Free Childcare, which can provide up to £2,000 per child per year towards childcare costs. Further details: www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

Important Information

  • The standard costed day is 08:30–15:30 (Morning Session + Afternoon Session); Extended Morning/Afternoon Care are additional.
  • Lunch is charged on every attended day, term-time or holiday.
  • Enrichment is charged on term-time days only and does not apply during holiday weeks under the All Year Round provision.
  • 15 Hours funding covers 09:00–12:00; 30 Hours funding covers 09:00–15:00, Monday to Friday.
  • 15 Hours funding is available to all eligible 3–4 year olds; 30 Hours funding is limited to a restricted number of places, offered only to families who meet all eligibility criteria.
  • Under the All Year Round provision, funding can only be claimed across 38 of the 47.4 weeks attended per year; the remainder is charged at the full session rate.
  • Fees are VAT-exempt and may be paid using Tax-Free Childcare or childcare vouchers.
